A 2004 survey by ThreeHoops.com of the number of Tribal Nations using websites found that approximately 50% of the Tribal Nations in the lower 48 states had their own websites. By 2006, the number has increased dramatically.  67% of federally recognized American Indian Tribes now have their own websites. Of the 341 federally recognized tribes, at least 231 tribes are using the internet and their tribal governmental websites to perform a variety of functions, including welcoming and informing visitiors about their nations, and their community priorities, culture and history. As of Mar 2006 at least 100 federally recognized American Indian Tribes do not yet have their own tribal governmental website.
